Riot has historically been pretty good about revealing its upcoming Riot Forge titles, those being smaller, one-off games from third-party studios using the League of Legends IP. Those have included the turn-based RPG Ruined King, the hectic rhythm game Hextech Mayhem, and two games announced in 2021, Song of Nunu and Convergence, although we still don’t know when those games will arrive.
However, today Riot has surprised us with a completely unannounced title. As spotted by Gematsu, the Korean game rating board just rated something called Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story, an action game starring Sylas. The game was rated 12 and up for "continuous battle scenes against humans/non-humans." Expect some light violence but nothing like Mortal Kombat-levels of blood and guts.

Judging by the name and the description, the game will center around Sylas and might even explore his tragic backstory. Born with powerful magic in the magic-hating city of Demacia, Sylas was used by the city's Mageseekers to find other mages for imprisonment–or worse. Sylas eventually grew to understand how he was being used to unjustly persecute magic users just like him, and after accidentally killing two Mageseekers, he was sentenced to life in prison.
Of course, Sylas's story doesn't end there. He would eventually break free of his shackles to lead a resistance group, offering safe-haven to mages and waging war against Demacia and its government. There's a lot of stuff that happens between his imprisonment and becoming the leader of a revolution, which would be fertile ground for a potential action game.
In other League of Legends news, Riot is starting the year off with teases of two new champions coming later in 2023: an enchanter named Milio and an assassin named Naafiri. There will also be some changes to LoL's ranked system, with two separate splits resetting ranks halfway through the season.
