Timid, apologetic, and not exactly talented at first, Ayane Matsunaga is your Sun confidant in Persona 4 Golden if you’re of a musical inclination with your after-school clubs. She’s an adorable aspiring trombone player who, at first, doesn’t let her noted lack of talent hold her back.

The time Ayane spends with your protagonist will help her stiffen up her upper lip and learn to be a stronger person who reaches for their goals, with or without permission. Ayane Or Yumi, Explained
In Persona 4 Golden, Yu Narukami is limited in his extracurricular activities. During your year in Inaba, you can join one sports club and one arts club.
The sports club leads to your Strength social link, while the arts club you land on introduces you to the girl serving as your Sun arcana in Persona 4 Golden. You'll have the choice between two clubs for each.
You can make your choice for the arts club you'd like on or after 4/25. Go to the second floor of the Learning Building after school, and when given the choice between clubs, join the school band.
Drama club leads to having a different character as your Sun social link, Yumi Ozawa. If you’ve got your heart set on befriending or romancing Ayane, join band.
This means that you'll have to decide between Ayane and Yumi, as you won't be able to spend time with the other. If you want to experience Yumi's story in addition to Ayane's, you'll need to play the game again.
While each girl has her own unique storyline in the game, they both cover the Sun arcana. Your Velvet Room fusions won't suffer if you choose one club over the other.

How To Rank Up Ayane’s Social Link
You should know this by now, but by the time you meet Ayane at the end of April, but you’re able to earn an extra affinity point during hangout scenes with your social links in Persona 4 Golden by keeping a Persona in your party that matches the arcana of the character with whom you’re hanging out.
Ayane will be your Sun arcana social link for P4G, so head to the Velvet Room before going to band practice if it’s on your after-school agenda that day!
Like many of the girls that Yu hangs out with, you’re able to romance Ayane if you so choose. The decision to do so will occur during her Rank 8 scene.
