Tekken 8 Is Planned To Launch By March 2024

Tekken 8 still doesn't have a release date, but thanks to Bandai Namco's recent third-quarter financial results, we at least know that it's aiming to be releasing by March 2024.

Things are looking quite well for Bandai Namco. Sales are up 18 percent overall, profits are up 15 percent, and video game sales are up 19 percent year-over-year, with Elden Ring cited as a top performer despite launching almost a year ago. Bandai Namco also talked about its other major franchises in its Q&A section, confirming both Armored Core and Tekken titles are coming in its next financial year.

"From the next fiscal year onwards, new titles in the Tekken series and joint development with FromSoftware have been decided," wrote Bandai Namco (with translation provided by ResetEra user Reyes). "We are planning to release 'Armored Core,' which will be released in Japan, and titles developed by overseas studios."

It's noted that Tekken "titles" might be a mistranslation, as we're only aware of Tekken 8 currently in development. However, it's possible that Bandai Namco also might release a Tekken 7 bundle that includes all previously-released DLC.

Tekken 8 was announced at last September's PlayStation State of Play, and since then, Bandai Namco has been releasing a steady stream of trailers confirming the new systems coming in the updated fighting game. The latest trailers reintroduced Nina as a returning character (and with a slick black leather outfit to boot) as well as 30 minutes of explanations regarding the new Heat system. That trailer also confirmed updates to the Rage Art mechanic, which has been unified under the R2 button for all characters.

Armored Core 6 was announced at last year's The Game Awards. Returning after more than a decade, Armored Core is a departure from the Soulsborne formula that has brought much success to FromSoftware titles. Despite this success, FromSoftware stated that Armored Core 6 will not feature Soulsborne-style gameplay, although producer Yasutaka Ogura recently said that the Souls series has certainly influenced the studio for the better, and this experience will be present in the upcoming Armored Core sequel.
