Sad News from EA: Four Games to be Delisted Forever
Electronic Arts (EA), a multi-billion dollar publisher, announced that four popular games will soon disappear forever. Within just over a month, Battlefield 1943, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Medal of Honor (2010), and Mirror’s Edge will be delisted from all platforms.
“On the 15th anniversary of the release of Battlefield 1943, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Medal of Honor (2010), and Mirror’s Edge, we announce that their journey is coming to an end,” EA stated in today’s announcement. After delisting, fans of these games will no longer be able to purchase them or any of their DLC.
While this news may come as a shock to some, EA assures fans that this decision was not an easy one. They explained that they needed to make room for new games, and delisting these games will allow them to focus on creating new and innovative games for players.
EA also expressed their gratitude to the fans who supported these games throughout their lifecycles. They are proud of the memories and experiences these games brought to players around the world.
These games are going away soon. If you want to play them, buy them now before they’re gone forever. After that, only the people who have played them will remember them.
For fans of Battlefield 1943, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Medal of Honor (2010), and Mirror’s Edge, this is indeed a sad day. But as EA closes this chapter, they look forward to creating even more unforgettable gaming experiences for their fans.
“Starting on April 28, 2023, Battlefield 1943, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Medal of Honor (2010), and Mirror’s Edge will be removed from digital storefronts, and you will no longer be able to purchase them. This is in preparation for retiring online services for these games, which will release on December 8, 2023. For Bad Company 1 and 2, as well as Mirror’s Edge, you can still continue to play them and use their respective offline features such as single-player campaigns.

It could make sense to delist Battlefield 1943, as it’s an online-only multiplayer shooter, but both Mirror’s Edge and Bad Company have strong single-player campaigns that are still enjoyable today. Mirror’s Edge is a particularly big loss, as diehard fans have been calling for a remake for years. Soon, you won’t even be able to buy the original. There’s still Mirror’s Edge Catalyst from 2016, but fans of the original have criticized the new open-world design and improved parkour mechanics.
Mirror’s Edge game enthusiasts might have to wait for a long time for a new release. Recently, Dice’s CEO Rebecka Coutaz revealed that the studio is entirely occupied with the development of Battlefield 2042 and currently has no other project in the pipeline.
Game preservation is still a hot topic, as more and more digital games disappear over time when their original publishers delist them. Another franchise dealing with preservation issues is Pokemon, which will soon lose a third of its titles with the closure of the Wii U and 3DS stores. These stores actually have quite a few exclusive games, leading TheCompletionist to spend $23,000 buying and downloading every single one.
