This week, the Famitsu Game Awards named Kingdom Tears the most anticipated game of 2023. Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the sequel, received the award and revealed some information about the game, including how its gameplay will shape Kairaru.
According to a tweet from Genki_JPN (thanks to VGC), Aonuma discussed the highly anticipated game, although the tweets have since been deleted. One tweet reads, “The sequel, Kingdom Tears, will introduce new gameplay that will allow players to use their imagination to change the game world.”
But Aonuma seems to be suggesting that Link’s actions in the game will shape Hyrule itself. While Kingdom Tears seems to take place in the same geographical location as Breath of the Wild, what we’ve seen so far has confirmed that it will look very different when we return.

Aonuma’s comments may very well explain why this is the case, and why we haven’t seen more of Hyrule in the trailers before Kingdom of Tears. most of the footage shows Link looking down on Hyrule from the sky. Perhaps this is the exalted position in which players will be able to shape the kingdom beneath their feet. According to a tweet, Aonuma expressed his hope that players will experience surprise and delight upon returning to Hyrule. He described Hyrule’s status as unknown.
Nintendo has managed to keep a lot of what is included in Kingdom Tears a secret while creating a lot of excitement. It is amazing that they have been able to do so.Admittedly, the leaked images from its art book don’t help with this, but the only drama I’ve come across is that Hyrule has its own cheese. I can also confirm that, for some strange reason, you get a special edition spoon when you pre-order the game in Japan.
