Team Fortress 2 just had its biggest leak yet, as all 61GB of the asset repo has been found. There are entire maps, models, PSDs, VMFs, and more, revealing concepts we'd only seen in screenshots, as well as completely new designs we've never seen before. Richter Overtime, who previously shared the discovery that one of Half-Life 2's corpse models was based on a real body, has been unpacking these TF2 leaks on his Twitter. One of the more curious designs that has the community confused is a three-legged robot – it's unclear what role this would have played in-game, or…
Final Fantasy 14 has three NieR: Automata-themed raids as part of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse storyline, but when Avenue, Dang, and others tried to conquer one of these raids, the boss simply disappeared. "I joined a Nier raid run that was 100+ minutes in because apparently the boss just despawned????" Dang said. "And the first episode of Automata anime just aired? IS THIS YOKO TARO'S PLAN?" RELATED: Final Fantasy 14 Fans Can't Get Over New Bao Animation That means that people sat around in this raid for over an hour and a half, despite it having no boss and no…
An AI Twitch VTuber received a two-week ban a few weeks after denying the holocaust. There's a sentence you probably never thought you'd read. Or maybe you keep up with AI VTubers and you figured it was only a matter of time before you read exactly that sentence. As reported by Kotaku, AI VTuber Neuro-sama was banned yesterday for two weeks. The AI's creator, Vedal, wrote in their Discord yesterday, "Okay so banned for 2 weeks obviously, not sure why something about hateful conduct. Will try to appeal and find out more the good news for you guys is this…
It seems Xbox Series owners are much less likely to consider their console their main one compared to PS5 owners, in the UK, in new research carried out by Ampere Analysis. The research firm claims that nearly half, or 48 percent to be exact, of Xbox Series X owners consider it to be the console they use the most. Flipped the other way, it means 52 percent of Xbox Series X owners don't consider it their main system. As for the less powerful Xbox Series S, only 35 percent of its owners consider it their main system. This contrasts with…
There was a meme going around recently, which sounds like how a well-meaning but out of touch stepfather might start a conversation with his surly and distant stepson, involving Benoit Blanc and The Muppets. The idea was that Netflix’s Knives Out 3 should be an all Muppet cast aside from Daniel Craig as the very human Blanc, a la Michael Caine in A Muppet Christmas Carol. Perhaps ‘meme’ is a little generous. More accurate would be that one persona suggested this, got a lot of laughs (or at least a lot of likes on Twitter, which is how we display…
Marvel Snap was a breakout hit for its developer Second Dinner and even took Best Mobile Game at 2022's The Game Awards, which is not bad considering it was the studio's first ever game. But the developer's founders are former Hearthstone devs Ben Brode, Yong Woo, and Hamilton Chu so the card battler title had experience on its side. With an increasing fanbase, the developer has been updating the game with balance tweaks, most recently nerfing the likes of Galactus, Aero, and Leader with others like Drax and Nakia getting buffs. But players have been wanting another update for some…
Something I love about Marvel Snap is the ability to make almost any deck work. Want to bully and bamboozle players with Sunspot and Infinaut? Go ahead. Prefer a weird discard deck with Hela and a load of staggeringly strong six-drops? That’s viable too. What if you just want to hang out with your best girlies and wives? Also possible. That’s because Marvel snap is all about playing your opponent, not the game itself. I’m currently rocking an ongoing deck that relies on a Turn 6 Onslaught or Spectrum. Onslaught buffs Blue Marvel, Mr. Fantastic, Captain America, or Punisher, and…
Unlike the passing trends of NFTs and ill-fated cryptocurrencies, I fear artificial intelligence as a tool for generating art, voice, and other creative ideas will become more commonplace as we move forward. Past months have seen it finally pierce the public consciousness, with millions turning themselves into anime characters through TikTok effects or uploading selfies to random programs to see themselves in the style of their favourite illustrators. Except all this is done through computers, your data uploaded to a program that steals work and techniques from human beings before throwing out a poor pastiche it tries to pass off…
The Last of Us TV show reviews are in, and they are positive across the board. While we in gaming tend to be a little too enthusiastic about handing out perfect reviews, TV critics with less emotional attachment to Naughty Dog's world have also heaped praise on the series. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay always seemed well cast, the linear and cinematic story always seemed well suited to prestige television, and while Druckmann's involvement perhaps seemed a little indulgent, it also solidified that the show was going to be a faithful adaptation. It was always going to be at least…
Chained Echoes is a proper old school JRPG, just like the ones you played as a kid. It’s so retro that I feel like I should be playing it on a Game Boy or something, inching forwards using a torch thanks to the screen’s lack of backlight. In actual fact, I’m playing it on a Steam Deck, which has a backlight and a thousand other features, yet feels far less portable than its decades-old predecessors thanks to weight and abysmal battery life. But anyway… Just as Steam Deck has iterated on consoles past, Chained Echoes has plenty of additions that…
